The Rural Oklahoma Learning Commons seeks candidates for a one-year residency offering continuous learners committed to rural education the opportunity to learn best practices in fostering and utilizing a learning ecosystem approach in a rural area. Residents will participate in a combination of education practica and research on emerging learning technologies and theory. Upon completion of the residency, educators will receive a Rural Ecosystem Connector certificate and are expected to continue to work in rural communities for no fewer than 5 years. Graduates of the residency will have continued membership in the Rural Educator Professional Development network.

Observe and co-create learning experiences using emerging technologies and approaches connecting rural learners with learning opportunities beyond their communities.
Conduct research on an emerging area of rural learning pedagogy.
Co-design with an experienced pathway designer a replicable learning pathway or extended learning experience for the placement community.
Conduct site visits and observation of other rural learning communities.
Participate and contribute to the Rural Educator Professional Development discussions, webinars and virtual tours with residents from across the Rural Learning Commons Network.
Minimum 5-year commitment to working in a rural community
1+ year experience in education, including experience teaching, an educational certificate or a verified learning lifelog that demonstrates commitment to developing learners
Demonstrated collaborative approach and commitment to improvement, as evidenced by application portfolio
Experience using emerging technologies and approaches to support learning a plus
Submit teaching or learning portfolio with demonstrated commitment to collaboration, improvement, and rural communities to Cameron Blake, Dean of Instruction.
